The Revolutionary City

With the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding approaching in 2026, the American Philosophical Society, the Library Company of Philadelphia, and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania are collaborating on an innovative digital portal that is freely available to the public. The Revolutionary City: A Portal to the Nation's Founding, will offer a planned 36,000 pages of material to uncover hidden stories from Philadelphia’s revolutionary past. This project is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan (SHARP) and will employ 11 early career contingent scholars and staff members as they digitize materials for the portal.
