Thomas began the History PhD program in 2023. Specializing in Early Modern European History, Thomas is interested in the translation of classical literature into vernacular languages, the printing of classical texts during the Renaissance and Enlightenment, and the integration of translated literature into school curricula. Thomas became interested in studying the classical canon during his BA at the University of Chicago. He holds an MPhil in Intellectual History from the University of Oxford, where he wrote a dissertation on the commercial failure of the first English translation of Plato's Republic.
