I am a postdoctoral researcher working at the intersection of early modern European history and the emerging field of Aging Studies. My postdoctoral appointments have taken me to three continents. My previous work, particularly my doctoral research, examined questions of social mobility, welfare, and old age. In my current project, I seek to understand how and why we have come to know our exact age so precisely, and which shifts in eighteenth-century mentalities transformed the number of our years into a constant point of reference.
