This talk is an introduction to the author's recent research for her new book on divorce practices in Istanbul 1750-1840, illuminating women's experiences in historical contexts. It explores the intricate dynamics of marital relationships and explores the complex interplay of social norms, legal frameworks, economic undercurrents, and individual experiences that shaped women's lives in early modern Istanbul.
