His research focuses on the negotiation between modernization and museification of the built environment in the nineteenth-century Italian peninsula, specifically through archaeological reappropriations, preservation campaigns, and historicist reconstructions. He received professional architecture training at the Hồ Chí Minh City University of Architecture, Vietnam, and a Master of Architecture at the University of Melbourne, Australia.
