Next Thursday (**6:00pm – 7:00pm**.) as part of ArtsThursdays Pablo Gómez (historian of medicine, UW Madison) will be in conversation with Nancy Friedemann-Sánchez (artist) about the themes in their work and the parallels with the CHSI exhibit *Measuring Difference.* Pablo's terrific forthcoming book, *Bloody Arithmetic,* looks at the insurance agents of the slave trade, in particular how these agents counted human bodies and, through measurements, redefined the "worth" of a human. Nancy's commissioned art piece pushes one to think of surveillance of black and brown bodies in the eighteenth century and today. It will be a treat to have an historian and an artist speak about how they approach these themes in their work.
