This year’s workshop, led by Sven Beckert and Sophus Reinert, will explore the theme of global capitalism. We have a wide range of papers exploring such issues as the Caribbean origins of modern capitalism, Indian ocean merchant communities, and the connections between inequality and contemporary politics, among many others. All meetings are open to the interested public, and we encourage graduate students to enroll in the seminar (History 2955A/B).
